This is the larger of Nilo’s two flagship gaming tables. It is built for the buyer who plays on a 4×6 surface and wants the table to last as long as the campaigns do. Whether you are running D&D, Warhammer, or a long-form RPG, the surface is sized to fit the game.
Most gaming tables ship with a fixed vault. The War Table adjusts on the fly with four pull-pin corners. Set it at 1″ for a flat board game surface. Step it down to 4″ if you are running a deep miniature setup with terrain and want the figures contained. No disassembly. No tools. Drop the vault, drop the felt back in, you are playing.
The structural difference between the War Table and its smaller sibling, the Master Table, is what holds the tabletop up. The Master Table uses a wooden subframe, which is plenty rigid at 3′ x 5′. The War Table spans 4′ x 6′, so the subframe under the play surface is boxed aluminum with stainless steel brackets. The aluminum holds the larger surface flat across years of weight cycling, terrain setups, and elbows.
The included roll-out mat is 4′ x 6′, sized to the recessed play area. Neoprene backing keeps it from migrating. The cushioned surface lets cards slide and lifts off the table cleanly. When the session ends, roll it up and the table is a hardwood surface again.
Drop the vault to your saved-game depth, lay the dining topper across, the game is sealed underneath. Pets, kids, dust, dinner all stay off the board. You come back to it the next night exactly where you left it.
Solid hardwood, finished in our Vista, California workshop. Solvent-based polyurethane, fully cured before the table ships. The same finish you would put on a hardwood floor or a kitchen table. Once cured it is inert, holds up to spills and scrubbing, and won’t yellow under direct light.
Boxed aluminum with stainless steel brackets. This is the structural piece that holds the 4×6 play area flat across the span. Wooden subframing is fine on a 3×5 table; on a 4×6 it has to fight its own weight, and aluminum wins.
Four pull-pin corners, four positions: 1″, 2″, 3″, 4″. Adjustable without tools or disassembly. The vault is what makes a gaming table a gaming table. It keeps dice, cards, terrain, and tokens on the surface instead of on the floor.
The Ernst family has been finishing Nilo tables in Vista, California for 34 years. Final assembly, finishing, and quality check happen there. Every War Table goes through the same hands.
The roll-out felt mat ships with every War Table. It is 4′ x 6′ and sits flush in the vault when the table is set to its 1″ depth. The neoprene backing grips the wood underneath, so the mat does not slide as players reach across the table.
The cushioned felt surface does two things competitor mats often miss: cards pick up cleanly off it, and dice roll without launching off the surface. The War Table ships with the gray mat.
If you want a second mat for a different game group, the roll-out felt table topper is sold individually.
Pair the War Table with the Nilo Dining Topper and the same frame becomes a coffee table or a full-size dining table. The topper is two halves with a tongue-and-groove joint between them, so liquid does not run down through the seam onto a saved game underneath. Toggle latches on each half lock the two together.
This is also how you preserve a multi-week campaign. Lower the vault to your saved-game setting. Set the dining topper across. Eat, host, walk the dog. Pull the topper off, the board is exactly how you left it.
Built around the same frame:
The largest hardwood gaming surface we make, sized for 6-player Settlers and full miniatures campaigns. Same Vista, California build as our smallest stool, just more of it. Drop a hot pizza box on the dining-top conversion and check for damage. There won’t be any. That’s why this costs what it costs.
The vault is the largest in the Nilo lineup, designed for full wargaming armies, multi-day RPG campaigns, and 6-8 player board game sessions without crowding.
The War Table has a substantial footprint, verify dimensions in the spec sheet before ordering. Plan on 36″ of seating clearance on each player side. Email support@nilotoys.com with your room dimensions and we’ll confirm fit.
