About the Master Table

The Master Table is built around a 3′ x 5′ vaulted tabletop, the standard playing surface for most modern board games and a comfortable six-seat layout for game night. The included roll-out felt topper sits inside the vault, the playing surface is solid hardwood, and the four-position adjustable vault lets you set the recess depth to fit whatever you’re playing.

Most gaming tables in this price tier ship at a fixed vault depth. The Master Table’s four pull-pins, one at each corner, let you change depth without taking the table apart. Set 1″ for a card game where you want the felt close to a flat surface. Set 4″ for a heavy minis game where dice and pieces need to stay contained. Set the vault all the way down and the Dining Topper drops in flush, covering an in-progress game so you can use the table for dinner and come back to the campaign later.

This is the most affordable adjustable-vault gaming table we’ve found in the premium hardwood category. At $1,499 with the felt topper included, it sits below the typical $2,000+ tier where adjustable vaults usually show up.

Adjustable Board Gaming Table Vault

Four depth settings: 1″, 2″, 3″, 4″.

Each corner has a pull-pin. Lift the pin, slide the vault floor to the depth you want, drop the pin back in. The table does not need to be disassembled and the playing surface does not need to be cleared. You can change the vault depth mid-session if you decide a campaign needs deeper containment for dice or miniatures.

When the vault is set all the way down, the Dining Topper sits flush across the top. That covers your game state, protects miniatures and cards from pets, frees the table for meals, and lets you pick up exactly where you left off when you pull the topper back off.

Felt Table Topper (included)

A 3′ x 5′ roll-out felt mat ships with the table at no additional cost. It fits inside the vaulted area and stays put because of a thick neoprene backing. The felt surface lifts cards off the table cleanly, lets cards slide instead of catching, and softens the sound of dice and miniatures.

If you need a replacement mat or a second color later, the standalone felt gaming mat is available as a separate purchase. Note: the standalone version is light grey only.

Construction & Materials

Solid hardwood, unlike many competitors. Frame, legs, and the playing surface itself are all solid hardwood. The table is assembled, finished, and quality-checked by the Ernst family.

Vault hardware. Four corner pull-pins. Stainless. Designed to be operated thousands of times without play developing.

Finish. Solvent-based polyurethane, fully cured before the table ships. The same finish used on hardwood floors and dining tables. Once cured it’s inert, holds up to spills and scrubbing, and won’t yellow under direct sunlight.

Family-run since 1992. The Ernst family has been finishing and inspecting Nilo tables by the Ernst family for over 30 years. Every Master Table is finished and inspected by hand before it ships.

Coffee Table & Dining Table Conversion

The Dining Topper is a two-piece hardwood top that drops onto the Master Table to convert it into a 42″ x 66″ dining table at 31″ tall. The two halves connect with a tongue-and-groove joint that prevents liquid from spilling through onto your game state below.

This is what most owners actually do with this table: keep an active campaign or puzzle vaulted underneath, pull the topper off for game night, drop it back on for dinner. One table, two roles. Buyers in apartments and rooms that don’t have space for both a gaming table and a dining table use this configuration as the primary reason to choose the Master Table over a fixed-purpose gaming table.

Common questions

Will adults fit comfortably?

Yes. The Master Table is built at 30¼" (standard dining height) and seats up to 8 adults around the dining topper. Many customers use it for family meals and weekly game nights with mixed-age groups.

Will it fit my room?

The outer footprint is 40" W × 64" L. For comfortable circulation, plan on 36" of clearance on each side you intend to seat from. See full dimensions for vault depth and seating spacing.

How easy is it to clean?

Wipe the melamine play surface with a damp cloth. That’s it. The felt topper is spot-cleaned with a damp cloth. The hardwood frame takes a standard furniture polish if you want to refresh it once a year.

What’s the real return process?

Hardwood furniture is heavy and shipping it back is expensive. Once the table is assembled, all sales are final. Before assembly, contact support, we’ll work through case-by-case options. Return freight is the customer’s responsibility unless we agree otherwise.

Can adults sit comfortably at the table?

Yes. The standard table height is sized so adults can sit on the floor or on a low stool with knees comfortably under the apron. For longer adult-side use, our optional taller leg kits raise the table to a homework-desk height that fits standard chairs. We’ve sold leg kits to parents, teachers, and grandparents who use the same table for craft time, homework help, or board games.

Is this table appropriate for a classroom or daycare?

Yes. Nilo tables have been used in classrooms, daycares, Montessori schools, and homeschool co-ops for over 30 years. The hardwood frame holds up to climbing, daily cleaning, and multi-child use.
